Fell at age 26

Neria was a man of kindness and giving. He began volunteering for Magen David Adom at the age of 23 as a first aid provider and later completed training as an EMT. For about three years, he volunteered at the Givat Shmuel station.

Simultaneously, he was a medical student at Ben-Gurion University and volunteered in many other frameworks, including Schneider Children’s Medical Center, Ezer Mizion, Tzohar, Chaverim L’Refuah, and Lev Echad. He loved traveling in Israel and around the world, cooking and trying new recipes, maintained a religious lifestyle, and dedicated fixed times for Torah study.

Esti Friedman, a Magen David Adom EMT and his friend, described him as a person who “was entirely dedicated to action and volunteering, always helping anyone in need.”

Neria served as a reserve combat soldier in Givati’s Shaked Battalion. On June 4, 2024, he fell during his service, after being killed in a road accident on his way to continue his reserve duty.

To mark his twenty-seventh birthday, 27 defibrillators were donated in his memory—matching the age he was supposed to reach—and they were distributed to Magen David Adom first responders throughout the country. The choice of defibrillators held special significance. Neria, who was an EMT, ambulance driver, and Magen David Adom first responder, saw the defibrillator as an essential tool for a responder and had even requested to be equipped with one himself. Thus, his 27 years of life were transformed into 27 devices held by Magen David Adom responders, capable of restoring a heartbeat at the most critical moments. Additionally, a Magen David Adom ambulance was dedicated in his memory.

He was laid to rest at the Mount Herzl Military Cemetery in Jerusalem. He is survived by his parents, a brother, and two sisters. May his memory be a blessing.

A Magen David Adom ambulance bearing his name was dedicated in his memory, thus continuing his life-saving mission. Additionally, 27 defibrillators were donated in his memory—the age he was supposed to reach but did not. The devices were distributed to Magen David Adom first responders.

May his memory be a blessing.
