Michel was born in Rio de Janeiro and immigrated to Israel at the age of 12.
He lived in Sderot and was a beloved father and grandfather.
He began volunteering for Magen David Adom in 2015.
Menachem Blumenthal, a Magen David Adom paramedic who was his instructor in the EMT and ambulance driver course in 2015, described him as an excellent trainee who loved to learn and constantly strove to advance.
After being certified as a Magen David Adom volunteer, Michel performed shifts on a Magen David Adom ambulance at the Tzochar station, and even in his spare time, he was always ready to head out and provide medical assistance.
Blumenthal also mentioned that Michel was a computer specialist and assisted others whenever they needed his help in that field.
On the morning of October 7th, he left his home to rescue his four-year-old granddaughter from the Re’im base, where she was staying with her father, a career officer in the Gaza Division.
After a short time, contact with him was lost. His family members were later exposed to a video released by Hamas showing his driver’s license, Magen David Adom volunteer ID, and other documents.
For a period, he was defined as missing, and it was later revealed that he was murdered and his body was abducted to Gaza.
It later emerged that on his way, he encountered wounded people fleeing the Nova festival and stopped to provide them with first aid.
His body was recovered in a military operation in May 2024.
He was laid to rest at the Givat Zion Cemetery in Ashkelon.
He is survived by two daughters and six grandchildren.
A Magen David Adom ambulance bearing his name was dedicated in his memory.
May his memory be a blessing.
