Evgeny began his journey at Magen David Adom as part of the collaboration between Israel Fire and Rescue Services and Magen David Adom. Within this framework, he completed training as an EMT and began volunteering for the organization. He loved volunteering at Magen David Adom and was dedicated to saving lives. His friends described him as a gentleman, a wise and sensitive man, who appeared tough on the outside but had a soft and loving heart.
Evgeny lived in Kibbutz Erez and was a firefighter at the Netivot station. He was born in the Soviet Union and immigrated to Israel with his mother and sister when he was three years old. After his service in the Air Force, he turned his love for sports into a profession as a fitness trainer and mentor, and later studied complementary medicine and nutrition.
On the morning of Simchat Torah, October 7, 2023, he finished a shift at the fire station and headed toward Be’eri, where he had planned to meet a friend for a morning bike ride. When the rocket fire began, he changed direction to return to his home in Kibbutz Erez. After realizing that terrorists had infiltrated the area, he managed to call the friend he was supposed to ride with and warn him.
Shortly thereafter, he reached the Sderot area, where he fell.
Evgeny was laid to rest in Beer Sheva. He is survived by his mother, sister, and partner.
May his memory be a blessing.
